Can Raloxifene Prevent Breast Cancer?
Raloxifene is a medication mainly used to strengthen bones in postmenopausal women, but it also helps reduce the risk of certain hormone-sensitive breast cancers. As a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM), it mimics estrogen in some parts of the body, like bones, while blocking its effects in breast tissue, preventing the growth of cancer cells. Studies show that postmenopausal women at high risk who take Raloxifene have a significantly lower chance of developing invasive breast cancer.
